ASTRONOMIC CALCULATION KIT, J. Dollond, 18th century

A set for astronomical works and calculations placed in a small, handy case.

The case was covered with lizard skin and then reinforced with wooden appliqués.

One of the included elements does not match the other instruments, one is also missing.

John Dollond (1706 - 1761) - English optician, creator of high-quality optical instruments. The Dollond family company was known all over England, and at the end of his life he was the optician of King George III. After his death, the company continued to work on optical innovations, not forgetting to patent them. In 1851, the Dollonds were awarded the Medal for Excellence in Constructed Instruments at the Great Exhibition at London's Crystal Palace.
