VASE WITH SWALLOWS, A. de Ranieri, France, circa 1900

Art Nouveau vase with a narrow neck and a short, squat belly.

A bust of a long-haired woman emerges from its surface, covering her naked body with delicate drapery.

Staring at the squat swallow, she did not notice her companions approaching, descending in a spiral procession from the flowery flow of the vessel.
