Pastoral scene depicting a pair of suitors.

The woman was shown in a long dress with a highly exposed neckline. Sitting on a fallen tree trunk, she holds a basket of roses in one hand and a small bouquet in the other. Her bare feet touch the ground softly.

Slightly tilted, it allows the young man standing behind her to put a flower wreath on her head.

The artist not only demonstrated the skillful execution of a multi-perspective work. He also presented his own sensitivity and ability to capture a key moment in the narrative of the figurative representation.

Joseph (Giuseppe) D'Aste (1881-1945) - French sculptor of Italian origin. Born in Naples, he moved to Paris at the beginning of the 20th century. In the years 1905-1934 he exhibited his works at the Paris Salon. He is known for his works fê te champêtre depicting idyllic scenes from the life of shepherds.
