KAŁAMARZ AND DRY, B. Wicker, France, 19th / 20th century

A magnificent inkwell that functions as a toolbox with two ink vessels. Enriched with pen holders.

Glass inserts received a bell-shaped frame decorated with branches of holly. They were covered with covers with a centralizing geometric ornament.

Both the surface of the toolbox and the dryer disc show a fragment of the painting "Chanson d'autrefois" by Pio Ricci.

Bernard Wicker - engraver active in France at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. His works adorned many small utility items. In his designs, he used the works of French and Italian great masters, such as Nicolas Lancret or Pio Ricci.
