This is the first edition, i.e. one of 4,000 printed sets.

The whole includes 28 volumes.

The basic part is complete, ie 17 volumes. Volumes I and II from 1751. Volume III from 1753. Volume IV from 1754. Volume V from 1755. Volume VI from 1756 Volume VII from 1757. Volumes VIII to XVII of 1765.

There are 6 volumes of graphics. Volume I from 1762. Volume II, Book 1 of 1763 Volume V from 1767. Volume IX of 1771 Volume X and the last XI from 1772.

For this there is a Volume II supplement from 1776. Volumes III and IV from 1777.

The last part is the so-called Table, Volumes I and II from 1780.

Missing: one volume of the supplement and six volumes of graphics.

The main editor was the famous writer, critic, philosopher Denis Diderot (1713-1784) and the encycolopedia was created in cooperation with many scientists, including d'Alambert, Montesquieu, Voltaire.

Preservation condition: satisfactory, the supplement requires special care for maintenance due to damaged spines.
