LADY WITH A ROSE Wreath, JF Colson, France, second half of the 18th century

Portrait of a mighty lady. Shown bustly, she presents her delicate face with extraordinary grace.

Her almond eyes are accentuated by the high arches of her eyebrows. And the pink lips clearly stand out from the bone complexion.

The model, aware of her subtle femininity, adorned the wig with a rose wreath, making one of its cups a playful crowning of the dress's neckline.
