BUDDHA WITH MANDORLA, gilded wood, 19th century

Full-length depiction of Amida's Buddha/ span>

He is shown in long robes flowing down to the feet. The right hand is slightly raised, revealing the palm of the hand to the viewer. His half-closed eyes and pursed lips express breathlessness and concentration.

The whole was placed on a high pedestal with an ornamental mandorla, intended to reflect its endless light of wisdom.
