AMAZONKA ON HORSE, Sławomir LEWIŃSKI, bronze, Szczecin, 1946-1999.

The figure is the artist's response to the disappearance of the need for chamber sculpture and embodies his creative formal explorations - synthesis, simplification and coherence. The sculpture exposes the problem of the material, presents the texture and design typical of soft materials. The Amazon River combines the formal issues of modern sculpture with the modern bozzetto tradition and the issues of a horse statue of ancient origin.

style = "color: # 888888;">Sławomir Lewiński (Kyiv, 1919 - Szczecin, 1999) - Polish sculptor associated with Szczecin throughout his artistic career. His numerous projects are located in the public space of Szczecin and neighboring towns. Lewiński was a member of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers. The sculptor's works have been repeatedly presented at individual and collective exhibitions in Poland and abroad.

In 2019, the National Museum in Szczecin organized a retrospective exhibition on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the artist's birth and the 20th anniversary of his death. "Amazing Slavic. Sławomir Lewiński 1919-1999" included over 150 objects.
