Friedrich Beer (1846-1912) - French sculptor of Austrian origin. He studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts with such masters as Carl Radnitzky and Franz Bauer. In 1870, he received a three-year Roman scholarship and a related studio located in Palazzo di Venezia. In 1873 he settled in Paris focusing his work on sculptural representations of women and children, including the young Martin Luther and Albrecht Dürer. He spent the last decade of his life in Italy.
