The sculpture shows Kannon Bosatsu (Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara). Kannon is sitting on a rock, dressed in long robes, with a characteristic high cap on his head, a necklace, and a scroll, probably with a Buddhist sutra in his hands. The Japanese artist gracefully showed a subtle facial expression, elegant pose and Kannon robes cascading down.
