One of the vases is in very good condition, the other has slight damage, visible in the photos: cracks in the enamel in the vicinity of an eagle sitting on a branch, a visible repair spot above it, and a slight damage at the spout's edge.

A pair of cloisonné (Shippo-yaki) vases. The intricate decorations show eagles, sparrows, trees and flowers. The copper body of the vases is covered with a network of thin metal threads forming a pattern on the vase, then the artist poured liquid glass of various colors into the cells formed between the threads, polished after cooling, and repeats these activities many times until the smooth surface of the entire vessel is obtained.
