VERCINGETORIX, E. Drouot, bronze, 19th / 20th century

Vercingetorix - name or title (great leader, king of warriors) of the leader of the greatest Gauls uprising against the Roman Imprerium, coming from the tribe of Arverni. He was murdered, he spent his last years in captivity in Rome, here he was presented in a belligerent pose, just before the battle.

Edouard Drouot (1859-1945) - French sculptor, student at the studio of Mathurin Moreau. Drouot specialized in allegorical and mythological themes, and carried out his work in marble and bronze. The characters are often characterized by a dynamic pose and expressive expression. From 1889, he exhibited at the Paris Salon.
