PIERROT DRINKING, LT Hingre, 2nd half of the 19th century

A figure of one of the most explored figures in European culture - Pierrot. Known from the 17th century, competing with the Harlequin for Columbine's attention, he was presented in a characteristic white outfit with large black buttons. Here Pierrot is shown in a humorous way, fighting to empty the bottle to the last drop of drink.

Louis Teophile Hingre (1832-1911) - French graphic artist, sculptor. He specialized mainly in the depiction of animals. At the beginning of his professional career, he spends several years in England working for Elkington & Co. There he meets the animal motif, designing horse racing trophies. After returning to France in 1869, he regularly exhibited at the Paris Salons. The admiration for Alfons Mucha's posters contributes to the change of interests and numerous art nouveau projects.
