MIRROR WITH PANOPLES, gilded wood, 18th / 19th century

Rectangular mirror set in a fluted frame.

Its upper part is decorated with sculptural drapery, while in the lower part there is a volute with a laurel branch - a symbol of victory.

The whole is topped with a trapezoidal panel with relief panoplies. In the central part there is a shield surrounded by oak leaves and a pair of banners. A sword with a helmet mounted on its handle is shown right behind it.
