Folded, pleated fan with rich painted decoration.

Decorated with a number of social scenes, it presents a cross-section of the fashion and customs of modern Europe. The whole is enclosed in an ornamental frame in the form of a symmetrically arranged arabesque.

The reverse shows a small floral composition flanked by a pair of birds.
