ARCADE CLOCK, P. Japy & Co., France, 1878

A mantel clock on a high foot. Decorated with swirling rocaillas and sea manes.

Its setting is decorated with concertottoes amused by the mutual company. They play a celestial companion holding a cornucopia. One of them decided to sit on the shield, being the crowning achievement of the whole.

The light, idyllic setting brings to mind the Arcadian land of happiness.
