THE CLOCK WITH THE WATER Nymph, E. Villanis, France, 2nd half of the 19th century

A tall table clock with a dial towering over the figural scene.

The young nymph perched on the edge of the fountain. She was tied around her naked body with simple drapery sliding down from her slender hips.

Leaning on her left hand, she is basking in the sunlight. With her right hand she covers her eyes against the morning light of the day.
