+ DRIPART VASE, Denbac, Art Nouveau, France, early 20th century
An interesting vase, decorated with dripstone glaze. During the Art Nouveau period, innovative ceramicists were partly inspired by vases from the Far East, admiring their colours and the spontaneity and uniqueness of their decoration. Such ceramics are sometimes called "reactionary" ceramics, as reactions to traditional European ceramics.
