MORNING TOILET, A. Lavergne, France, 2nd half of the 19th century
A sculpture depicting a young girl performing her morning toilet
Slightly bent over, she hastily arranges her thick hair. At the same time, she pays no attention to the riding up of her shirt, the delicate material of which clings to her shapely thighs.
The stony ground suggests that she bathed at a nearby water source.
