The silver-plated bronze sculpture depicts a boy mowing grain with a scythe. The boy is dressed in a loincloth and wears a straw hat. At his feet we see growing ears of grain. The sculpture is made with finesse and high attention to detail.

Description

Eugène Laurent (1832 – 1898) – French sculptor born in 1832 in Gray. In the years 1861-1893 he showed his works at numerous exhibitions in Paris. Known for works on classical and realistic themes. He is the author of, among others, the monuments: Jacques Callot in Nancy and François Boucher in l'Hôtel de Ville de Paris.
