Description

Georges Dayez (1907-1991) - French painter and lithographer, a lover of cubizum, especially of Geogrès Braque. His career path was marked by many difficulties - lack of money for studies, war. Since 1944 he has regularly exhibited his works, in the 50s and 60s he had numerous individual exhibitions all over the world. Not only does his art travel, but he himself visits Europe and the States. He also taught other artists, managing the lithography workshop at the Academy.

Graphic presenting a view of Toledo - a city in central Spain, full of architectural gems. It was an inspiration for artists, just to mention the famous landscapes of El Greco. The view of the city was filtered through a cubist gaze, it was subjected to geometrization, synthesis and the rules of perspective were rejected. The artist managed to convey the specificity of this place by highlighting the arcades of the bridge, the towers of the Alcazar and the spire of the cathedral.
