Signature: Chimot
Édouard Jules Chimot (1880-1959) - French illustrator and engraver. He studied under Pharaoh de Winter at the School of Fine Arts in Lille and with Alexis Mossy at the National School of Decorative Arts in Nice. He was fond of depicting young models, creating erotic works mainly in the spirit of Art Deco. After World War I, he moved his studio from Montmatre on the Boulevard de Rochechouart. Eventually, he accepted the position of artistic director of Éditions d'Art Devambez - a publishing house that published exclusive books on art. As a result of the outbreak of World War II, he moved to Spain, where he created continuously until his return to Paris.
