Description

Bronze sculpture covered with multi-colored paint. It depicts the seated goddess Kannon Bosatsu (Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara). The goddess of mercy sits on a rock, dressed in long robes, with a characteristic high cap on her head, a necklace, and a scroll, probably with a Buddhist sutra in her hands. The Japanese artist gracefully depicted the subtle, calm expression of her face, elegant pose and cascading, long robes of Kannon.
