BATHING, after EM FALCONET, bronze, 19th century
The sculpture is made according to the famous realization by Etienne Maurice Falconet (1719-1791) from 1757 entitled "Baigneusse", or "The Bathing One". The figure shows a young woman checking the water temperature before taking a bath. The girl is almost naked, she is wearing a piece of robe, which she will probably abandon in a moment to plunge into the water.
