Description

The painting is based on the work of Alexandre Roslin - a Swedish artist active in France, also known as Le Chevalier Roslin (1718-1793) who mainly created portraits in the style of the era. Roslin's canvas is in the Louvre collection. The painting shows a young girl who decorates the figure of Cupid, the god of love, with a flower garland. Through her act, the girl wants to guarantee herself the affection of the man whose portrait stands on her desk. The artist signed her drawing with her own name, but also included information whose work she was inspired by.
