A portrait representation of a powerful lady.Shown in full bust, she presents her delicate face with incredible grace.
Her almond eyes are accentuated by high arches of her eyebrows. Her rosy lips stand out clearly against her bone complexion.
The model, aware of her subtle femininity, adorned her wig with a rose wreath, making one of its cups a playful culmination of the neckline of her dress.

Signature on the back: Colson
Jean François Colson (1733-1803) - French painter, from an artistic family. He created on commission from his powerful patron, Prince Godefroy Charles de Bouillon. At his court he held various positions, being both an architect and a painter. He specialized in portraits of the French aristocracy. His paintings decorate, among others, the Royal Łazienki in Warsaw.
