A painterly representation of the presentation of Jesus in the temple. The naked Child held in the arms of Mary is passed into the arms of the bearded Simeon. According to the Gospel of St. Luke, the event is accompanied by St. Joseph with a pair of turtledoves and the prophetess Anna - the daughter of Phanuel. The whole is presented against the background of a doorway topped with a semicircular overdoor.
