
OVAL PLATE, Norblin, Warsaw, 19th/20th century
A plated plate with an elliptical base, decorated with a spreading floral collar. It rests on a low and wide foot.
On its shorter arcs there are two handles, the form of which continues the leafy setting. The bottom is also decorated with floral - meandering ornaments, spreading from the center of the image field to its edges.

The "Norblin and Company" bronze factory was founded in 1820 on Długa Street in Warsaw. It produced table decorations and cooking utensils. In time, it was moved to Krakowskie Przedmieście, and finally to Chłodna Street, where a shop with bronze, plated and silver items was also opened.
In the 1860s, Ludwik Norblin founded a companywith his brother-in-law Teodor Werner, owner of a Warsaw silverware factory. In the 1880s, he bought the Buch Brothers plated goods factory with exclusive rights to their production.

After World War IIthe Joint-Stock Company of Metal Factories established by him was nationalized, operating under the name of Walcowania Metali "Warszawa".
