Description

A large Japanese cabinet made of wood covered with lacquer and gilding. It has a lock, hinges and corner fittings made of engraved and patinated copper. A couple of doors are covered with convex decoration in the kachō-ga type, i.e. representations of birds and flowers. In this case, we see partridges walking among blooming chrysanthemums, and birds flying above them. The inner parts of the doors and numerous drawers are covered with a painted, colorful motif of various flowers and leaves.
