MARY WITH CHILD, softwood, 2nd half of the 18th century
zł2,500.00
A full-scale representation of Mary and Child. Shown in long robes, she looks with a smile at her son exposed to the world.
The naked Child gazes at the globe held in his hand. In this symbolic way he juxtaposes motherly love with his own role as the Savior of the World.
The whole thing was placed on an elaborate plinth, enriched with slender festoons.
