A sculpture depicting Joan of Arc, the French national heroine and saint of the Catholic Church. The woman in a poignant pose was shown in a modest outfit without shoes. The sculpture was made with the greatest attention to detail, which can be seen in particular on the face or hands of the figure.

Etienne Henri Dumaige (1830-1888) - born in Paris in 1830, studied sculpture under Féuchère and Dumont. He exhibited his sculptures at the Paris Salon in 1862-1877. He made a large number of works in the spirit of academism in marble, bronze and plaster, many works refer to mythology or historical figures. He died in St-Gilles-Croix-de-Vié in 1888.

Height 36 cm.

The sculpture is in very good condition, the base is slightly bent.
