Known for full-figure figures constituting an autonomous whole. His works can also be found as finials of mantel clocks or as bases of impressive candelabra. He specialized in sculptures made in bronze.

A meticulously cast bas-relief depicting a painting by Alphonse de Neuville entitled "The Spy" from 1880. It shows an episode from the Franco-Prussian War, presenting the capture of a soldier. The man, trying to get through the German forces surrounding the city of Metz, was brought before Prussian officers. The whole thing was emphasized by a simple frame.
