
CARAFE, Wrocław, C. Frey & Söhne, Prussia, 19th/20th century
A wine carafe characterized by a low belly.
From the elongated body emerges a short spout and a slender ear.Gthe upper part of the vessel received silver fittings enriched with leaf decoration and monograms of the previous owner.
The whole is crowned by a bulging cover with a spire in the shape of a helmet.

Carl Frey (1774-1845) - Prussian goldsmith. From 1799 owner of a goldsmith's workshop in Świebodzice. He specialized in the production of high-quality table haberdashery. In 1861 he changed the name of his company to C. Frey & Söhne, and a year later he opened a family workshop in Wrocław. After his death, his elder son took over the Wrocław branch, while the younger continued work in the Legnica branch.
