The central element of the decoration is the figure of Muruga / Karttikeji - a god of war who restores the divine order. Muruga, worshiped especially by the Tamils, was depicted with his horse a peacock. The rest of the decorations are small panels arranged around the main motif. The fields are filled with stylized flagella and birds. An important step that dynamizes the whole thing is the use of alternating different colored metals.
