Depiction of the sleeping goddess Venus - a popular topic during the Renaissance. The painting is based on the masterpiece of Giorgione (1478/9 - 1510) - the master of the Northern Italian Renaissance. Original kept in the Old Masters Picture Gallery in Dresden.
